Boeing Whistleblower found dead outside a South Carolina hotel just days after testifying in Lawsuit against the Aviation Giant
Barnett, a former quality manager at Boeing's North Charleston plant, who retired after a 32-year career, had raised concerns about the company's production standards. Yesterday, he was found dead in his truck in a hotel parking lot in South Carolina.
Barnett's death came during a break in depositions in a whistleblower retaliation suit, where he alleged that under-pressure workers were deliberately fitting sub-standard parts to aircraft on the assembly line.
When asked if an autopsy had been performed, the coroner's office did not answer the question. The County Coroner Bobbi Jo O'Neal released this statement only (quote):
“Mr. Barnett died on March 9, 2024, from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Charleston City Police Department is the investigating agency. No further details are available at this time.”
